Making progress

Citrine progress

After some starts and stops, I’ve finally made some progress on the center of Glitz & Glamour Citrine. I don’t know why it’s so difficult to work with yellow! I like it once I get going, but it’s hard to get excited about this color!

The inspiration for the design was a close-up of a large citrine, showing the facets of the gem. I decided to use rhombus jessicas for the large facets. That left a large hole in the center of each one, so I filled the centers with a satin stitch pattern. So far, so good!

I realized as I was stitching, though, that even though each jessica is the same size and shape, it might be difficult to figure out where to start each one. Sigh. So I get to diagram each and every jessica, to make it easier for the stitcher. Do you know how hard it is to diagram a jessica? The hard part is showing where the stitches go under. I do the best I can, but I wish I could do more.

So after I get the jessicas diagrammed, it’s on to the next step. The next stitches will be easier – you’ll have to wait to see!
