As adults no one ever makes a big deal out of a birthday, and I always want a birthday cake at least. Well, this year for my September birthday I decided to make myself a cake – a stitched cake!

I love the frosting roses, so I made sure those were on my cake, and plenty of them! And I went all out with a two-tier cake – if you’re going to party go big! We even included some balloons for the festivities!

September Kit Contents

The kit includes a line drawn Rose Blush 18 ct. mono deluxe 18 ct. canvas with taped edges; full cards of Rainbow Gallery Mandarin Floss M802 White, M804 Medium Raspberry, M824 Dark Wedgewood and M861 Lite Christmas Green, and Frosty Rays Y112 Fuchsia Pearl; a size 22 and a size 18 tapestry needles, and 3-D printed balloons.

The cake sits on a blue cake plate, satin stitched. The bottom tier is a scallop stitch variation, ombred from white to pink, and the top tier is white balloon satin stitch. The roses are formed from Frosty Rays (easy to do!) and accented with green French knots. The bottom edge of the cake is a couched scallop with Frosty Rays. The stitching didn’t take too long, about 4-5 hours, so I hope you are able to get your cake stitched quickly!

We completed the project with a presents printed fabric. The finishing kit includes the fabric and 2 pieces of matboard, and we have a video on our YouTube channel showing how to do a flat finish – quick, easy and inexpensive.

we display the finished project on our 3D display stand, blue with white balloons.

I love our September project – this year for my birthday I have cake! I hope you like it too!
