I see new threads all the time, but usually don’t include them in my projects until I’m sure there’s a good track record. New threads, and thread companies, seem to come and go, usually just after I’ve used them in a project and need to order.
At our Canvas Countess Pilot Retreat last week, I was given samples of a new thread line called ColorSpun.
Here’s the website: The Needlepointer ColorSpun
There are several different types of threads in the collection, and I used the very fine metallic braid. I would say it’s a little finer than Rainbow Gallery Petite Silk Lame’ Braid, probably more like Rainbow Gallery’s Petite Treasure Braid in weight. It worked well for the ray stitches around the herringbone squares.

But Debbie, you’ll say, where can we get this thread? This is still a new thread, and the 2026 Stitch Along was more designed with using stash threads in mind. I’m going to experiment a bit more before I take the plunge and fully commit to this thread line, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to use something new.
This part of the Stitch Along is fairly simple, ray stitches around the herringbone squares. The rays are different sizes because the herringbone squares are different sizes. You can find this addition here: Stitch Along Part 7
I hope you’re enjoying the Stitch Along! I’m having fun with it, especially since I get to play with new threads!
