We all love Fall, the cooler temperatures and football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, pumpkin patches, corn mazes – so many ways to have fun!
Our October Kit of the Month celebrates Fall with a harvest! It’s a meager harvest by some measures, but what a gorgeous pumpkin! The pumpkin sits in front of a wheat sheaf, and it’s all surrounded by a “fence”.
Don’t you love quick to stitch projects? Our Kit of the Month is a quick to stitch little project, complete with threads, canvas, embellishments and even a needle.
The “fence” is a small border of oblong cross stitch and Smyrna crosses, all stitched with Weeks Dye Works #8 Pearl Cotton 2228 Pumpkin.
The pumpkin is stitched with Weeks Dye Works Cotton Floss 2228 Pumpkin, and simple stitches fill out the body of the pumpkin – brick, Byzantine, Milanese and Parisian, outlined with stem stitch.
Finish it with a tall sheaf of wheat, stitched with Silk Road Fibers Straw Silk 0310 Amber Waves. You won’t believe how easy this is to stitch!
As a final touch we’ve added a 3D printed stem and leaf, completing our October Harvest.
The kit includes a line drawn and screen printed 18 ct. mono deluxe Sandstone canvas with taped edges; full skeins of Weeks Dye Works #8 Pearl Cotton 2228 Pumpkin and Cotton Floss 2228 Pumpkin, and Silk Road Fibers Straw Silk 0310 Amber Waves; 3D printed pumpkin leaf and stem, and a size 22 tapestry needle. (Kit does not include 2 pairs of 8″ stretcher bars and tacks, but this project is the same size as the previous kits of the month so you can use the same stretcher bars.)
As always, we’ve thought of the finishing too. Add the Finishing Kit with pumpkin printed fabric and 2 pieces of matboard. Instructions are included in the leaflet to complete a flat finish (glue and cord not included).
Display your finished kit with a 3D printed display stand that coordinates with the project. The stand is brown with pumpkins printed on the stand, and is easy to assemble.
