A colorful design built in a log cabin quilt layout! This design features 8 canvas thread wide bands; the stitches used can be altered to different sizes for a different look.

Teaching objectives:

  • Teach beginning stitches to execute several commonly used counted canvas stitches
  • Challenge experienced stitchers to explore by changing the stitches (size and placement) to personalize the design
  • Discover a natural stitching rhythm without reliance on stitch diagrams

Building Blocks employs several stitches in 8 thread wide bands, in a log cabin quilt layout. The stitches are easily changed to be larger or smaller; instructions include diagrams and advice on changing the stitches.

Available in two color ways: Mardi Gras – purple, green and gold silks on 18 ct. white canvas, or Coral – shades of terra cotta and olive cotton threads on eggshell 18 ct. canvas.

Stitches include waffle, Rhodes, rice Smyrna, bound cross, scotch, Brighton, cashmere, pavilion diamonds, herringbone, double herringbone, herringbone gone wrong, herringbone over satin stitches, Hungarian, double brick, Milanese, Parisian, trellis cross, point de tresse, Montenegrin and perspective.
