SHELL GAME 2

Shell Game 2 is a basic Bargello wave pattern punctuated with shell stitches and pearl beads.

Teaching objectives:

  • To learn a basic shell stitch with padding
  • Compensating a Bargello wave pattern
  • Develop a natural stitching rhythm without reliance on stitch diagrams
  • Stitch with confidence and ease

The center shell patterns are padded; students will have the option to pad the smaller stitches if desired. Padding the shell stitches, a stump work technique, gives the finished design the look of real shells attached to the canvas. Available in 3 color ways: Blue Waters – as shown, clear blue water colors on Sandstone canvas; Seafoam – aqua water colors on aquamarina canvas, or Turquoise – turquoise water colors on white canvas. When finished, the project is suitable for a box top, pillow or framing, because the stitches are not long stitches that will catch with handling.

Stitches include Greek, slanted gobelin, Bargello wave, shell stitches and padded shell stitches.
