New Year, New Projects!

I love starting a new project! Getting the canvas ready, pulling the threads, studying the chart and making the first stitch – is there anything better? I bet a lot of you feel the same way!

So far this year I’ve finished two projects, so it’s time to look for another one. I’m one of those weird people who is a monogamous stitcher, only one project at a time. That doesn’t mean I don’t have the next one, or two or three, lined up and ready to go. I’m the same way with books, I can only read one at a time, unlike the members of my book club who always have several going.

Whether you’re a serial starter or a monogamous stitcher, I’m glad we all get to do our hobby/pastime/love the way that suits us! And in my role as enabler, let me tempt you with some new projects!

First, I have a new Year of Color small project, Autumn Splendor. A little behind the season, or way ahead, this is a lovely little project that you can stitch and finish quickly.

Looking ahead a bit, I’m piloting two classes at the Canvas Countess Pilot Retreat in March, NOLA Magnolia and Spangled. We’d love for you to join us! Don’t be afraid of the term “pilot” – we need stitchers of all abilities and experience as we refine our instructions and teaching methods for national seminar. And March is a great time to visit Albuquerque! We had lovely weather last year and really enjoyed the opportunity to be outside a bit.

And looking way ahead, American Needlepoint Guild and Embroiderer’s Guild of America are not that far off. Registration will be opening soon for both seminars, and you can start looking at the many offerings for New Orleans (ANG) and Dallas (EGA). EGA National Seminar 2025 and ANG National Seminar

I’m planning the online classes I’ll be offering this year and will be making announcements as they’re ready to go. I’m in the process of adding to our on-demand classes on our website, and will let you know when they’re available.

I don’t know if you’ve made stitching resolutions for 2025, but I hope they include some of my projects and/or classes. As always, I appreciate your comments and questions – you’re the reason I do what I do!

Happy New Year, and I hope to see you around!

  1. Hi,
I was wondering if Symphony will be offered again somewhere? I love the Autumn colorway. I’ve only just learned about the Shining Needle Society and joined. It looks as though this was offered there several years ago. Will it be released as a chart or online class through your site? Thanks for any info you can give me.
