A New Leaf is a mixed media collage of stitched leaves, utilizing stitchable cork, 40 ct. copper mesh, Ultra Suede leaves, a gold embossed faux leather leaf, and several leaf stitches – a very fun project!

What will you learn?

• How to stitch other grounds along with 18 ct. mono canvas
• Learn several leaf stitches, in addition to variations of point de tresse, applique stitch
• Understand how a stitch is developed, leading to ease of stitching
• Explore several different silk threads and other products in developing the project

A New Leaf is about 10″ x 8″ on 18 ct. Sandstone mono deluxe canvas, about 180 x 144 stitches. Although it’s a largish project, the stitching is partitioned into several smaller areas, making it more approachable.

• Treenway Silks Harmony, Zen Shin, Tranquility and 3.5mm Silk Ribbon

• Kreinik #8 Braids (or other similar metallic threads, depending on availability)
• Painter’s Threads Gimpe
• 18 ct. mono deluxe Sandstone canvas with taped edges, canvas cut size is 16″ x 14″, students will need 1 pair of 16″ and 1 pair of 14″ stretcher bars
• Instruction book of more than pages, with large graphs and color picture
• 40 ct. copper mesh

• Ultra Suede leaves in fall colors
• Gold embossed faux leather leaf
• Leaf stencil
• Size 22 tapestry and chenille needles, size 28 tapestry needle

All options include access to the video stitch demonstrations, Zoom sessions and a dedicated groups.io for sharing photos, asking questions, posting weekly lessons and lesson diagrams. Zoom sessions are recorded and added to a private showcase for class members only. The Zoom sessions are a bonus for class participants and an addition to the printed instructions; sessions will be on Tuesdays.

October 21- November 30 (6 weeks, one lesson per week), Zoom sessions on Tuesdays

November 30 – class officially ends, but the classroom remains open for posting photos, questions and follow-up.
