Shining Needle Society Class – Indie Pop

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

SKU: T-021 Category:

Indie Pop puts the stitcher in the driver’s seat – you make the decisions about which motifs you want to stitch, which colors and threads you want to use, even how many strands! Now don’t worry: this is a carefully guided project so you can make fully informed decisions as you stitch.

The center motif, a large irregular Chilly Hollow stitch, and the composite ribbon dividing lines are the same for each project. There are four large areas, each with a border stitch, a motif stitch and a background stitch. The stitcher will have eight components to select from for their four large areas. No two projects will be alike. Choose the stitches you like the best, or stretch yourself with something new. The instruction book is extensive with thorough diagrams and written instructions, augmented with video stitch demonstrations and weekly Zoom sessions for face to face time with Debbie.

The instructions include lots of general guidelines for making stitching decisions, how to decide which texture to use where, number of strands for good coverage, etc. We have the project available in four color ways – Coral/Lilac, Neutral/Mauve, Tropical or Autumn. The kit includes Caron Collection Watercolours, DMC flosses and #8 pearl cottons, Rainbow Gallery Silk Lame’ Braid, Neon Rays and Neon Rays+, Kreinik #8 braids, and canvas with taped edges.

The design size is 8″ x 8″ on 18 ct. canvas; canvas cut size is 14″ x 14″. Coral/Lilac and Neutral/Mauve is on eggshell canvas, Tropical is on white canvas and Autumn is on sandstone canvas.

If you really want to fly solo, we have an instructions only option, or instructions with canvas (eggshell, sandstone or white). If you’ve taken the class before, either face to face or virtual, you can choose the audit option. Auditors are full class members with access to the weekly lessons, Zoom session, and video stitch demonstrations, but will not receive any materials because you should already have your supplies including instructions.

I was fortunate enough to take this online class and I loved stitching this! The colors are beautiful and the design is unlike anything else I’ve stitched. As always all of the materials used are of the highest quality, and Debbie’s teaching skills are excellent.

My local ANG chapter did the pilot for this piece. I am usually not very good at. At making choices about stitches and backgrounds. I just follow the designers pattern in the colors the designer used. Debbie made all of this very easy. Her instructions and diagrams are so detailed and easy to follow. Even though I was going out of my comfort zone, it didn’t seem like I was

  3. Kyle Fisher

I took this class online and fully enjoyed it. The directions were complete and easy to understand. The threads are so colorful.

  4. Jane Tanner

I also was part of the pilot for this. What is nice about this piece is that you could do this over and over again, in the same colors or not, and end up with many different pieces. It was challenging to do because of decisions that needed to be made. But, because of this, I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I completed the piece.

    Another fun cyber class.

I bought this kit while it was being taught online. Debbie’s instructions are great. Details and diagrams are wonderful. I was unfortunate not to be able to do the zoom classes live, but was given links to review if needed.
