Mostly Amadeus is the first of a series of designs based on a single stitch. In this project we’ll explore all sizes and shapes of Amadeus stitches.

Amadeus stitches are twisty stitches most commonly associated with Jean Hilton. In Mostly Amadeus, we’ll stitch round, triangles, arrow, dagger, and heart shaped Amadeus stitches, with additional stitches to round out the design.

What will you learn?

  • Learn how to start and stop threads using pin stitches and loop starts, useful for every stitching project
  • Emphasis is on developing a natural stitching rhythm, so you can stitch with more ease and enjoyment
  • Lots of interaction with Debbie and other students in the class – we learn from each other!

Choose from four different color ways for this project, or opt for chart only and devise your own color scheme. We have kits for Bold (orange, purple and turquoise on Aquamarina canvas); Grayscale (gray with red accents on Pewter canvas); Monochromatic (beiges to browns on Eggshell canvas), or Pastel (pale blues, yellow, pinks and lavenders on Antique Blue canvas).

Kit contents:

  • 18 ct. mono deluxe canvas with taped edges, cut size 10″ x 18″
  • DMC #8 or Presencia #8 pearl cotton
  • DMC cotton flosses
  • DMC Satin Floss
  • Kreinik #8 Braids
  • Rainbow Gallery Silk Lame’ Braid
  • Size 22 tapestry needles

Students will need 1 pair of 10″ and 1 pair of 18″ stretcher bars, tacks or staples, usual stitching supplies, laying tool.

Design size is 4 1/4″ x 12″, 76 stitches x 216 stitches.

Recommended for stitchers very comfortable with counting and reading charts; if you’re new to counted canvas don’t worry – we’ll help every step of the way!

This class is offered as a catch-up class in conjunction with Mostly Herringbone. Mostly Amadeus stitchers may join the Mostly Herringbone Zoom sessions, and ask any questions at the end of the Mostly Herringbone sessions.

Debbie’s instructions are second to none. Her stitch diagrams are large, clear and extremely easy to follow. You almost don’t need the extra hand-holding that classes provide, but do the class anyway as you will learn lots of tips. She is also great at answering questions. My version of this used the grayscale colorway, but I swapped out some of the grays for extra red. Highly recommended.

    Beautiful!

  3. Catherine Weber

Any of Debbie’s designs that I have done have been beautifully charted – no second guessing, easy to follow. Love her designs.

  4. Vickie

I bought this to go with Angles and I’m hoping to start this year.

  5. Terri Sanders

This was my first class with Debbie (not my last) and it was great. The design looks even better in person and is a lot of fun to stitch. Debbie has wonderful instructions, diagrams, and lessons. She encourages her students to make changes if they like to personalize their work. She has spoiled me for other teachers.

  6. Pat May

Great instructions and a beautiful project. Thank you.

  7. Jane Tanner

A great piece! I stitched the bold colorway and enjoyed every stitch. The directions were fabulous!

This is a beautiful design. A nice companion piece for Fandango and Crescents. Directions are wonderful and so clear. Accompanying videos make learning the stitches easy. Highly recommend!

  9. Vicki A Roti

I took this class on line as part of our ANG chapter and it was great. Her directions were clear and her on camera demonstrations were perfect. “Would take another.

I used colours from my stash and am now doing mostly crescents with same colours and dark blue canvas
