Mostly Crescents focuses on a single type of stitch, crescents. This is a “string-art” type of stitch, and there are certain principles that apply to stitching all crescents. This class offers a thorough understanding of the structure of these stitches, so you can stitch quickly and more confidently when you encounter them in other projects.

We’ll explore several different sizes and shapes of crescents: nautilus crescents, crescents with a tail, layered crescents, teardrop crescents, infinity crescents, fleur de lis crescents, and other shapes. The project is accented with additional stitches like waffle stitches and fans.

Mostly Crescents is offered in four color ways: Bold (orange/purple/turquoise on Aquamarina canvas), Grayscale (grays with red accents on pewter canvas), Monochromatic (beiges to browns on eggshell canvas) or Pastel (blue/pink/lavender/yellow on antique blue canvas). The kit contains DMC flosses, DMC #8 pearl cottons, DMC Satin Floss, and Kreinik #8 Braids. The canvas will have taped edges. Mostly Crescents is a companion piece to Mostly Amadeus (offered previously) and Fandango (registering now with SNS).

The instruction book is thorough, over 100 pages, and the class is augmented with 13 stitch video demonstrations that students will be able to review as needed.

This class is offered as a catch-up class in conjunction with Mostly Herringbone. Mostly Crescents stitchers may join the Mostly Herringbone Zoom sessions, and ask any questions at the end of the Mostly Herringbone sessions.

Important class dates for the Mostly Crescents class are as follows:

• Registration open now through November 13, 2023
• Anticipated class start date is the week of January 2, 2023, depending on timely shipment of supplies from the various manufacturers
• Class is scheduled to conclude after 6 sessions, approximately the week of February 6, 2024
• Kits will be sent hopefully mid-December, depending on when we receive the supplies
