From the air, we can see farm land with irrigation circles, land masses defined by mountains and rivers, shadows cast by clouds, all combine in a patchwork of colors and shapes. Prairie Squares takes inspiration from this colorful mosaic and presents a project of small squares – one square leads to the next, small bites of needlepoint stitches with varied threads and textures.
What will you learn?
- “Twisty” stitches like the Kitty’s double fan doubled, layered Jessicas and other Jessica shapes, walnetos, sword Amadeus and more!
- How to use pin stitches and loop starts for secure thread anchors, including ending with pin stitches
- The mechanics of complex stitches, so you can learn to stitch with more ease and enjoyment without reliance on the instructions all the time
- Working with specialty threads like rayon ribbons, metallic braids, and more
The design size is 8″ x 8″, with a canvas cut size of 14″ x 14″ to allow plenty of room for finishing as you choose and less awkward stitching. Sage green 18 ct. mono deluxe canvas adds another dimension of color to the project, executed in shades of purple, pink and green, with touches of yellow.
In the kit you’ll receive:
- 14″ x 14″ Sage Green 18 ct. mono deluxe canvas with taped edges
- DMC cotton flosses and #8 pearl cottons
- Kreinik #8 Braid
- Rainbow Gallery Neon Rays and Silk Lame’ Braid
- ThreadworX overdyed Vineyard Silk
- Tapestry needles in sizes 22 and 18
