A treasure box of stitches in sumptuous jewel colors of emerald, ruby, sapphire and amethyst! Treasured Stitches takes familiar Jean Hilton stitches, then twists some of them into new variations, resulting in a rich project of metallic, rayon and silk threads. For instance, have you stitched a diamond waffle with a reverse diamond waffle at the same time? The result is a beautifully woven and striking motif. A layered and overlaid motif of Amadeus stitches, sprat’s heads with woven fans, layered crescents in different orientations, layered walnetos, and herringbone square with reverse herringbone square stitched together, plus some of the usual suspects in my designs – 12 pointed star, double fan doubled, Kitty’s double fan doubled – and a delicate netting of trellis stitches to set off the treasure motifs, this is a project with plenty of complexity!

In addition to several twisty stitches, you’ll learn:

• How to use pin stitches and loop starts for secure thread anchors, and ending with pin stitches (added bonus – a neater back!)
• Understand some of the mechanics of the development of twisty stitches, so you’ll stitch with more ease and enjoyment
• Employing specialty threads for a luxe touch

But even if you’re just beginning your love affair with counted needlepoint, you’ll be able to stitch this project with the thorough instructions (almost 200 pages), large diagrams and video stitch demonstrations (37 in all) to walk you through step by step.

All of the treasure motifs are surrounded by silk pavilion diamonds and outlined with Petite Facets, a metallic braid that mimics the look of beads. A gold ribbon further sets off the beautiful motifs contained – what a lovely project of Treasured Stitches!

As an added bonus, each of the motifs can be stitched individually as ornaments. You’ll love these stitches so much you’ll want to stitch them more than once!

Treasured Stitches is about 9″ square, with a stitch count of 162 x 162 stitches on 18 ct. mono deluxe eggshell canvas; canvas cut size is 15″ x 15″. Students need to supply 2 pairs of 15″ stretcher bars, laying tool, magnification and lighting if needed. If you have a stitching frame to hold the bars it will make stitching much easier!

We make our online classes as accessible as possible, with weekly lessons, weekly Zoom sessions, a private video showcase of 37 stitch demonstrations, plus a dedicated private classroom on groups.io to facilitate questions and answers. If you’ve not participated in a Zoom class before, no worries – I’ll go over how to access all the resources in the first session.
