A lovely Milanese stitch will square off the edges of the diamond shape, giving us a square shape. This stitch also gives some motion to the design so far, drawing the eye to the center.
I’ve added the next set of instructions to the instructions, pages 15-17. I’m keeping all of the instructions together so when we’re finished you’ll have a complete chart for reference, rather than looking for the individuals parts.
The instructions are here: Stitch Along Part 5
I guess at some point I’ll have to come up with a formal name for this project. If you have a name in mind, leave a comment – I promise I’ll consider it!
I used 3 strands of the silk floss for this stitch. If you want to use more you can, or if you want to use fewer you can. Diagonal stitches usually need less strands than straight stitch, because they cover the canvas a little better.
If you wanted to end the project here, you could! I think it’s a very pretty little design at this point. But I hope you’ll stick around for the next parts. I’m a little surprised by the direction the next part took!
