I love spring, with the emergence of beautiful spring flowers! It lifts my spirits to see daffodils and irises blooming, the banks of color from azalea bushes; after gloomy winter skies it’s so welcome!
April’s Kit of the Month highlights spring colors of yellow, pink, orange and fuchsia with an impressive double fan doubled, surrounded by bound cross borders and Hungarian stitch background. I chose Treenway Silks for the threads in three textures – Harmony Silk Floss, Zen Shin and Shinju, a new thread from Treenway.
The kit includes an 8″ x 8″ square of white mono deluxe 18 ct. canvas, all threads, and size 22 and size 18 tapestry needles.
We included a little extra of Zen Shin. The double border took just a touch more than one full skein, but two full skeins would have been way too much.
The Shinju is a lovely texture, between a #5 and #8 pearl cotton, and stitches beautifully, especially for a twisty stitch like a double fan doubled.
Don’t be nervous about taking on this impressive stitch. We’ve created step by step videos, available on our YouTube Channel Sunny Spring playlist. Sunny Spring Playlist
As usual, we also have a finishing kit for our April Kit of the Month. I love this fabric! In fact, I love this fabric so much that it’s the inspiration for the thread colors!
We also created a special display stand for our April kit, yellow with pink squares! Our display stands are 3D printed from PLA. Quick to assemble, then disassemble for flat storage.
We always have a lot of fun creating our Kits of the Month, and hope you find them fun to stitch and display as well!
