Blazing Stars is a design inspired by a beautiful quilt I saw while at a stitching retreat. I couldn’t take my eyes off it! And as I continued looking at the quilt I began to wonder if I could design a counted canvas project based on the quilt. Blazing Stars is the result. The “quilt squares” are 8 x 8 stitch blocks, worked in hand-painted cotton threads with a touch of metallic to add sparkle to the night sky. There’s only 9 or 10 different stitch blocks, so not a complicated design, with a full color chart to make placement of the square easier.

Don’t let the picture fool you, then background is not solid black. It is a number of dark blues which gives it a lot of depth. Pattern is easy to follow.

A fun project, wonderfully charted. The photo on the website does not do it justice. The dark background is much more subtle and has a lot of variation in it.
