Well, it’s been a minute since the first post. I was traveling and teaching, and visiting family, so my focus was pulled elsewhere. But I’m back home and raring to go!
For the first stitches in this stitch along I’m back to one of my favorite stitches, the waffle stitch. Waffle stitches are so versatile – they can be square, diamond, star, or even round shaped, and just about any size. No wonder I keep going back to the waffle stitch.
As I was diagramming this project I was struck by the pattern formed between the waffle stitches, where the stitches are sharing. So I decided to try to capture what I was seeing, and I think it worked just fine.
I selected Caron Collection Waterlilies 238 Glowing Embers, for a particular reason. This 12 strand silk floss is easily divided into 4 bundles, so I could make sure that the color placement was the same for all of the waffle stitches. It requires a little more effort but I think the results are well worth it.
You can find the first installment of instructions here, along with info on choosing your colors:

I’ve already moved on to the next stitches, so hopefully the next installment won’t meet with similar distractions!
