Finishing the year right

The boxes I wanted to use for finishing Regal Autumn came! Actually, they came some time ago, but the delivery driver hid them well and didn’t find them until last week.

I love Sudberry boxes. They make finishing so easy, come in several different sizes and finishes, and can be done by my (right now, the most important aspect!).

They are very nicely finished and come with the glass to cover the stitched piece. Not all pieces will work in a box covered with glass, but Regal Autumn does.

The boxes are nicely finished inside as well. And if you notice the closures on the lid, the piece isn’t permanently attached to the box and can be changed out! You would need another piece of matboard for mounting the piece, but that’s easily obtained.

I ordered several, because I have in mind to stitch pieces for ready-to-finish this year. It saves me the angst of trying to find suitable fabrics and trims, then fussing over it because I’m not really a finisher, or sending it out for finishing (expensive!). The boxes cost less than a custom frame. They don’t have to be hung on the wall, and are easy to store. Plus you can put things in them, very useful.

So that’s it for this year. I’m planning additional stitch alongs for 2021 and I hope you’ll join me. I’ll probably be starting with how I plan to finish the pieces before we begin stitching, so you can see where I’m going with a project, even if it’s a mystery as we stitch!

Thanks for joining me this year, and I hope to see you in the new year.
