Back in the day, when I was just starting DebBee’s Designs, I created a series of cross stitch charts for the holidays. I loved to decorate my house for the various special days, and my small children looked forward to changing out the decorations. I designed Banner Days for them.
Banner Days were stitched on 16 ct. banding, chosen because the edges were already finished and I could hang them almost immediately after I finished stitching. I made them all the same width, so I could use the same bellpull hardware and just change them as needed.
We decided to make them available again through our Online Store – look for the Cross Stitch category. I designed banners for New Year’s, Mardi Gras, St. Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Halloween, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hannukah, and even Birthday, School Days and a generic Welcome.
The banding can be hard to find, so we’re also offering a limited selection of the banding used to stitch the designs. We embellished with Just Another Button Company buttons, and for convenience we have some button packs available as well.
All of the Banner Days are bright, colorful, easy to stitch, and use DMC Floss with some additional Kreinik #4 Braids. Some of the models were stitched with Presencia Floss, and DMC substitutes are suggested with the thread lists.
The St. Valentine’s Day Banner Days is shown, and this is one of the ones we have banding and button packs for.
The buttons and banding are sold separately.
If you’d rather, the Banner Days can be stitched horizontally on fabric rather than vertically on banding, and embellishments can be added, changed or omitted. I always encourage stitchers to make the changes that suit them.
