Smooth sailing for this section

For those who are just joining in, the finished design size is 6″ x 6″ on 18 ct. canvas, and I cut my canvas 12″ x 12″. A full list of the materials I started with is in the post dated April 16.

Moving on – the next block is a combination of pavilion diamonds with horizontal hungarian, stitched in two colors of Silk Lame’ Braid.

I wanted a little sparkle for this section without being SPARKLE, so the Rainbow Gallery Silk Lame’ Braid was a good choice, and I had just the right colors.

I stitched with two needles at the same time, one threaded up with the darker color, and the other with the lighter color. I used the lighter color for the pavilion diamonds and the darker color for the horizontal hungarian.

I started off with the compensating stitches:

You can see where I’ve parked the needles on top of the canvas, where I will need those colors next. Parking on top of the canvas where you’ll ned it next prevents a big mess on the back. The threads can’t get tangled up, and have to be removed and restitched. You can just go when you’re ready for that color.

There are two sections of this pavilion diamond with horizontal hungarian.

If you don’t have Silk Lame’ Braid, you might consider stitching the pavilion diamonds with stranded cotton, silk or bamboo, and the horizontal hungarian with a metallic or different texture. Whatever you decide to do will be fine – it’s your project, and your stash!

Here are the diagrams for this section:

This suggests a stitching order. You may find an order that you prefer and that’s fine. But remember that your stitching will be prettier and lay better if you can bring the needle up in an empty hole, and down in a shared hole.

These blocks are identical. Here’s where they’re placed:

I hope you’re continuing to have fun, picking colors and threads that you like. I am! Let me know if you have any questions. We’re almost to the end, just a couple more blocks to go.
