I love pansies! I love the variety of colors, the compact size, the structure of the petals – just everything. What better way to celebrate May than with a cheerful pansy!
I’ll confess that this design fought me every step of the way, but I’m happy I stuck with it because I’m pleased with the result. I worked on the design at least 4 or 5 times until I got it to where I wanted to stitch it, then when I started stitching I ripped out the center at least 3 times. Like I said, it was fighting me! How could a happy little pansy be so vicious!
But I’m really pleased with the way it turned out in the end, and hope you like it too.
The kit includes a line drawn, 18 ct. Santa Fe Sage canvas, 8″ x 8″. I used Treenway Silks for the threads: Tranquility, a fine silk cord, from the Montano overdyed series, Pansy (yes, really!), and Zen Shin, a non-divisible single strand reeled silk in 37 Maize, 46 Peony, 209 Wild Bordeaux and 953 Mint Julep. The kit also includes 2 size 22 Tapestry needles, and of course complete instructions and diagrams.

I hope you like stitching with Zen Shin as much as I do. This is a lovely thread, lays on the canvas beautifully and covers well with a single strand. It’s one of my very favorite threads to stitch with, and comes in yummy colors.
And, we have a finishing kit as to go with our May Kit of the Month! The response has been wonderful to our finishing kits, so we’re continuing on. The finishing kit includes 2 9″ x 9″ squares of the pansy printed fabric, 1 5″ x 5″ square of quilt batting, a 6″ x 6″ mat board and a 6″ x 6″ mat board with a slightly larger than 4″ x 4″ window. The leaflet includes finishing instructions.
